So tonight I'm moving the peice of rod into the garage after a long search. I've strapped as much as I could to the bed, and the rest will go into kyle's truck. My brother and his buddy huey are going to help with the transportation of the truck. huey has a kickass truck and trailer setup that he's bringing so that'll help a lot. It's a lot to move but we can do it. With melissa directing us on her stacking power via long days of tetris, we'll get it done.

So I'll put up pics as soon as I can and update the status ont he old beast. I'm heading to vegas this saturday. S0 maybe I'll get to see some cool rides out there.

Anyway...

We looked at the garage across town with a leaky roof. But it's better than nothing. I handed in the rental agreement today and we should be moving stuff in by next week. Kyle is replacing some boards for the floors, but other than that I'm super excited to finally move. Updates too come.

Update: It's 11/06/06 and well so far no garage, the rent on the storage bin is going up, still haven't been able to work on it much due to it being in a storage facility and not in a garage. I know, I know pitty da fool who bought a Giant Money squeezer. Oh well I'll figure something out.

So I have decided to unchannel this rod. Making it easier to run exhaust, steering, and wiring of all sorts. Not too mention that since it's setting on a dakota frame, the frame rails run straight through the middle of the floors, causing a rift in the plan of the floors. So I have some floor braces and will put them in whenever I get more room to do so.

I did get a bed, as you see in the pic below. Another + to the raising, is the option of having more bed usage. I know what your thinking, "But Troy it's a friggin ratrod" I know it's a ratrod/hotrod but it's mine and my ideas are flying like pigs in shit. But alas much like my bulldog puppy they are far far away from me.

The bed I got was a little rusty but it has good sides and will need cut down, so I can't wait to get to that. I got a nice 30" metal bender/brake, and a new metal shear. The last pair failed me and left me with no option but to return it. So that's done.

Well I'm out for the day

If anyone wants to leave comments feel free.

Here are some pics of a couple weeks ago. My buddy Kyle, Melissa and I started patching up the floor. Melissa supervised as Kyle welded and I gazed on staring at the bright light of the welding tip. The back is almost done. the front, well that's a different story. The way it was cut before perplexes me in many different ways. There are weird angle cuts and tabs, don't get me started on tabs. So Yeah We tried to do some work yesterday, but mostly it was three cuts and that's it. Called it a day.

As for the garage thing, nothing yet. Nothing from the landlord about the garage out back, and nothing from the realtors about the garage rental across town. Bummer, shit shit fuck. Someday maybe...

And finally I may have a good lead on a bed for the truck. It's about two and half hours away. Sounds good over the phone. Currently it is being used for a trailer to haul stuff in. He says there's no pitting and it is in really good shape. Sounds good, just need to find time and money to go out and take a look.

Well that's it for now.

As too date I still haven't found a garage to start the project in. But something will come up. I've looked at a few and some were better than others. But the cost is a big factor in this situation, you can't spend too much because you kind of need money to build the truck. People in this town are asking outrageous amounts for their small two bays. Anywhere from $200 - $400 a month. With no electric. Outrageous indeed!

Here are some Pics of the Hotrod Hoedown 2006 in Wilmington, DE. Good times!

So this is going to be a blog on the progress of my project rod. To give you a little background on it I'll start from the beginning. I went looking for a 1950's ford truck and came across this project started by a man from Scranton. the ad read "1946 chevy pick-up, ratrod, half finished. Includes everything." And that it did! Everything in the ad was to be true. So what is the ratrod part of it you ask, well it turns out it includes a lot. The vehicle is a 46 chevy fleetline sedan sectioned after the front doors and joined with the rear of a 47 chevy pick-up. Top is chopped 3" and the entire cab has been channeled 5". Right now it sits on a 89 Dodge Dakota frame, and has a chevy 305 from a 87 caprice classic cop car. Right now I'm in search of a garage to use to finish the beast. So far no luck.
